| Administrative History | George Holman Kent Kingdon (1873-1942) was the son of an Exeter cabinet maker. He gained his MA at Oxford and began work in the laboratories at Joseph Crosfield & Sons Ltd. in 1896. He quickly transferred to the commercial side of the business and became manager of the buying department. In 1901 he was living in Runcorn. In the 1911 census he was married and living at Hill Crest, Frodsham, describing himself as a manager at a soap and chemical works. He was appointed a director in 1913, becoming chairman in 1926. He retired three years later in 1926 at the age of 56, when this volume was presented to him.
